I don’t think anyone ever eats good on July 4th. Its a time for fun, family and FOOD! Burgers, dogs, beans and desserts. Here a few for you to try out if you like!
Blue Cheese Burgers
Ingredients:
* 1 pound ground beef
* Salt and pepper to taste
* 2 ounces crumbled blue cheese
* 2 hamburger buns, split and toasted
* 2 slices red onion
* Tomato slices and lettuce leaves, optional
Directions:
Shape beef into four thin patties. Grill, covered, over medium heat for 3 minutes on each side or until meat is no longer pink. Season with salt and pepper.
Press blue cheese into the center of two patties; top with remaining patties. Serve on buns with onion, tomato and lettuce if desired
In two small bowls, combine each gelatin flavor with 1 cup boiling water. Stir 1/2 cup cold water into each. Pour each into an ungreased 9-in. square pan. Refrigerate for 1 hour or until set.
In a large bowl, whisk milk and pudding mixes for 2 minutes. Let stand for 2 minutes or until soft-set. Fold in 2 cups whipped topping.
Set aside 1/4 cup blueberries and 1/2 cup strawberries for garnish. Cut the gelatin into 1-in. cubes. In a 3-qt. trifle bowl or serving dish, layer the strawberry gelatin, half of the cake cubes, the remaining blueberries and half of the pudding mixture.
Top with blue gelatin and remaining cake cubes, strawberries and pudding mixture. Garnish with reserved berries and remaining whipped topping
In a microwave-safe bowl; melt chocolate at 70% power for 1 minute; stir. Microwave at additional 10- to 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
Dip each pretzel rod about halfway into chocolate; allow excess to drip off. Sprinkle with stars. Place on waxed paper to dry.
Patriotic Taco Salad Recipe
Ever had a seven layer dip? Well, this is the same thing, except its purty!

* 1 medium onion, chopped
* 1-1/2 cups water
* 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
* 1 envelope taco seasoning
* 6 cups tortilla or corn chips
* 4 to 5 cups shredded lettuce
* 9 to 10 pitted large olives, sliced lengthwise
* 2 cups (8 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese
* 2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved
Directions:
In a large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the water, tomato paste and taco seasoning. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes.
Place chips in an ungreased 13-in. x 9-in. dish. Spread beef mixture evenly over the top. Cover with lettuce. For each star, arrange five olive slices together in the upper left corner. To form stripes, add cheese and tomatoes in alternating rows. Serve immediately.
Directions:
Slice eggs in half lengthwise. Remove yolks; set whites aside. In a small bowl, mash the yolks. Stir in the mayonnaise, onion, relish, mustard, salt, pepper flakes and pepper. Pipe or spoon into egg whites. Refrigerate until serving.

Two hands down on Patriotic Trifle, these one wins my vote. I couldn’t remember any 4th of July where we didn’t have this and I could see why. This is just a beautiful and delicious dessert.
